YOUNGSTERS from an east Cleveland football team have been presented with trophies by a footballing legend.
Sir Geoff Hurst, who played in the 1966 World Cup final against West Germany, presented trophies to the Cleveland Juniors under-nines football team.
The boys had a big fundraising effort to enable them to travel to Bournemouth to take part in an Easter tournament.
The team and their families raised about £900 to fund the trip, and events included some of the parents taking part in a karaoke evening, a signed football provided by Middlesbrough Football Club chairman Steve Gibson, and a donation of £200 from the Poverina pub in Normanby, near Eston.
The team came fourth in the cup and were presented with their trophies by the England hat-trick hero.
Mother Sue Barker said: "I would like to thank everyone who helped us and even if we had come last it was well worth the 330-mile journey."
