TWO pupils, who both run at the same athletics club and study at the same school, have competed for their home county, of Durham.
Jackson Creeghan, 14, and Laura-Jane Wright, 12, took part in the mini-London marathon where they achieved high placings in the first time the county has been represented.
The pair, both coached by Laura-Jane's father, Michael, who runs the Blackhill Bounders club, are convinced they can enter the top three placings in future years.
"We are really proud of them," said Laura-Jane's mother, Sharon.
"They were Durham school champions and are really dedicated to it. Jackson had a bad knee in the marathon and was not supposed to run at all and Laura-Jane was not well.
"They both showed courage to get through."
The pair, who are from Blackhill, Consett, both attend St Bede's RC Comprehensive School at Lanchester
