RURAL transport was given a shot in the arm yesterday as a scheme to help youngsters find work was officially launched.
The Wheels 2 Work initiative, pioneered by Hambleton and Richmondshire Rural Transport Partnership, got under way at Bedale Hall.
The scheme will see mopeds leased to people aged 16 to 25 who are having difficulties getting to work or work-related training because of a lack of public transport.
Youngsters will be referred to the scheme by agencies such as the Careers Centre and 12 vehicles have been made available for the first year.
