POSTAL workers in the North-East are demanding extra cash for delivering thousands of political leaflets in the run-up to the General Election.
Staff in Cleveland, Darlington and Durham are among the few in the country not to receive a bonus for delivering the extra election literature.
Ashok Kumar, Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, has sponsored an early day motion to go before the House of Commons today calling on mail bosses Consignia to offer the same deal to North-East workers.
Dr Kumar said: "It seems churlish and insensitive of local bosses to refuse to even consider a similar agreement for this area."
