A TIMELY reminder of the new millennium was presented to the mayor of Redcar and Cleveland this week.
The 4.5m-high electric clock, on a plinth at the eastern end of Redcar's pedestrianised High Street, has been provided by the town's rotary club in partnership with the borough council.
A ceremonial key for the £13,000 clock was given to the mayor, Coun Arthur Dobson, by Lyn Hall on Tuesday.
Mrs Hall's husband, Ted, a past president of the club and a well-known optometrist in the town, died last month.
Coun George Dunning, lead member for regeneration, said: "We're delighted with all the work and extremely pleased with the clock feature. We've had an excellent working partnership with Rotary and I'm sure the end result will be appreciated by thousands of people."
