CARMEL College, Darlington's Under 12s rugby team make a dream appearance at Twickenham tomorrow.
As winners of the County Durham 12-a-side tournament they will represent the county in the Daily Telegraph/Zurich National Rugby Festival, taking place before the Army v Navy match in front of a crowd of 30,000.
Rugby was introduced to the curriculum only three years ago and, with the help of Matt Carter and John Hillier Hall, the two rugby development officers for the region, and coaching from both Darlington and Mowden Park rugby clubs, the school now has regular fixtures at U12, U13 and U14.
The U12s are coached by PE teacher Simon Hannaford, along with Dale Kelly and Phil Ross from Darlington rugby club.
The team for Twickenham is: Liam Kelly (capt), Chris Wheeler, Paul Cornforth, James Bird, Darren Hoare, Tom Carr, Matthew Gee, Liam Shove, Marc De Wind, Paul Carr, Jamie Baldasera, Steven King, Scot McKenzie and Steven Byrnes
