Darlington youngsters such as unfortunate goalkeeper Shaun Harrison experienced the thrills and spills of competitive sport yesterday.
Shaun, 11, pictured letting in a penalty when his Reid Street Junior School side took on Raventhorpe Junior School, was one of hundreds of youngsters taking part in the town's TOP Sport Festival.
The children have been coached in soccer, hockey, basketball, netball and rugby, by Darlington College of Technology sports science students.
TOP Sport is supported by the Youth Sport Trust to introduce seven to 11-year-olds to sports.
The scheme, in its third year in Darlington, has provided training for teachers and sports equipment for schools.
