THE Office of Fair Trading said it planned to come up with solutions to the competition concerns raised by Belgian brewer Interbrew's takeover of Bass, by next month.
The OFT said it would consult on remedies to address the adverse effects of the deal, as identified by the Competition Commission and it would make a formal recommendation to Trade Secretary Stephen Byers later in July.
The comments follow last month's drama when Interbrew won a victory over the Government in the High Court.
Mr Byers was ordered to reconsider his decision to force the Belgian group to sell Bass.
Interbrew had announced its £2.3bn takeover of the brewery business last June, but Mr Byers rejected the deal in January over fears of a duopoly effect with UK rival Scottish & Newcastle.
