PENSIONER Jean Watson hopes her double bed-sized quilt will help to spread a little happiness and warmth.
Quilter Mrs Watson has been working on her grand design for the past 18 months. Thousands of stitches have gone into it.
The quilt along with other quilts and patchwork, fashioned by a group of fellow enthusiasts, are going to be raffled to raise funds for Saltburn in Bloom.
The 12 to 20 women, who meet every Tuesday to work in Mrs Watson's Marine Parade flat, hope their efforts will raise £2,000 to help with the cost of plants, flower tubs and baskets and the water bill. As for the design of her quilt, Mrs Watson said: "It just evolved. And I worked on it as and when I had the time.''
The raffle will be held at Saltburn Community Centre, on Saturday, June 23.
