Roseberry Group North East Durham League - Plawsworth's Peter Harwood turned in a magnificent performance when he just about bowled out North Bitchburn single-handedly when the sides met in Division One.
Harwood claimed nine for 41 in 13 overs and what made his feat
all the more remarkable was that previously he had taken two wickets all season.
North Bitchburn were all out for only 77 which included a top-scoring 35 by opener William Hutchinson, who hit a six and three boundaries.
Batting first, Plawsworth realised 200-8 from the maximum 45 overs as both Michael Fletcher and Nigel Dargue struck half centuries. East Rainton had 92 runs to spare following a high-scoring game with Coxhoe.
Colin Henderson and Derek Aylesbury both passed 60 and Austin added 49 to the East Rainton total of 244-7. Five of the wickets fell to Bloomfield for 58.
Coxhoe finished with 152-6 as Metcalfe (39 not out) and Strange (60 not out) formed an unbroken partnership for the seventh wicket.
Medomsley managed 122-9 at Sunderland Hospitals who won by five wickets when Shaw carried his bat for 44 and despite scoring 200-7, Littletown lost by seven wickets to Belford House.
Nelson (96) and Davis (37) top-performed for Littletown before Duncan Forrest (91) and Richardson (47) led Belford House to an excellent win.
Washington, too, reached a formidable target on their visit to Simonside whose 175-5 included 33 by David Connelly and 61 not out from Thompson. Kitchen, with 4-52, produced the best bowling analysis of the game. Washington won, losing six wickets, when Thompson scored 56 and Lyall added 47 to a productive second-wicket partnership.
In Division Two, Burnhope lost by 183 runs at home to Newton Aycliffe who made the massive score of 277-5 in 45 overs. Glen Williams led the way, hitting five sixes and 13 fours in 112 and Peter Colby contributed 68. Lee Joshy sent down 13 overs in the Burnhope attack returning figures of 3-72.
Responding, Burnhope were all out in 25 overs for just 94 runs with Alan Selway jnr scoring 40 with a couple of sixes and five boundaries. Steve Davison, Peter Roberts, Williams and Peter Colby shared the wickets.
Coundon's batsmen also found the going difficult and were dismissed for just 78 by Hunwick for whom Morris took five wickets for only 27 runs. Batting first, Hunwick posted 149-8 and the feature of the innings was a half century by Nicholson. Bell, with 4-27 was the pick of the Coundon attack.
Noble (83) top-performed when Belmont realised 168-9 despite College claiming 3-46 and Davison 3-40 for East Rainton who won by five wickets thanks to 54 by Bell and 47 from Iley.
Hughes (4-28) and Turnbull (4-55) restricted Tantobie to 110, a target which Kelloe met with five wickets intact as man-of-the-match Turnbull carried his bat for 44.
Bass North Cleveland League
JOHN Peacock turned in a man-of-the-match performance for Ormesby Hall who had 71 runs to spare defeating New Marske in Division One.
The opening bowler captured seven for 24 in nine overs and with Stan Davies taking 3-27 at the other end, New Marske were back in the pavilion for 58.
When Ormesby Hall made first use of the wicket, the innings ended on 129 which included an unbeaten 44 by Ian Burns with two sixes and four boundaries.
Lightwing also had a good day and in 16 overs returned figures of 5-41.
Todd (40) scored nearly half the Skelton Castle total of 89 with Barritt taking 4-12 and Morrison 4-46 for Loftus who won with seven wickets intact.
Brotton also found scoring difficult and were back in the pavilion for 85 runs as Stephenson claimed six wickets for 25 runs. Earlier, Dormans reached 198 for five declared as both Patton and Stephenson passed 60.
Hinderwell were all out for 70 visiting Greatham Paragonians for whom Ross had an analysis of 6-22. Although Theaker claimed four wickets for 40 runs, Paragonians won by three wickets.
Gunn (64) and Hadfield (75) led Middlesbrough Co-op to an impressive total of 184-4 and in sharp contrast The Ladle were all out for 52 as Dawson captured six wickets for 13.
Staithes struggled to 83 all out with Leadbitter taking 5-42 and Frewin 3-28. Normanby Parklands had no bother reaching the small target as Ramzan carried his bat for 33 out of a total of 84-2.
In Division Two, Boosbeck defeated Cowpen Bewley A by three wickets. Dave Richardson returned the outstanding figures of 8-54 from 16.3 overs as the visitors were restricted to 129 in 32.3 overs.
Replying, Boosbeck were indebted to Stuart Lorraines who slammed seven sixes and seven fours in 83 not out. Six of the seven wickets were taken by Graham Peacock for 35 runs in 16 overs.
After scoring 180-8 with Cook making 98 before being bowled, Ormesby Hall B restricted Loftus B to 115. Roberts returned 6-31 and Cook 3-22.
When Ormesby Hall B batted first Shaw and Butler shared seven wickets.
Normanby Parklands B had two wickets to spare defeating Dormanstown. Wilson and Flynn each scored 43 and Lloyd claimed six wickets for 36 runs in the Dormanstown attack.
When they made first use of the wicket, Dormanstown ended with a respectable 140-8 which included a top-scoring 33 by Pickworth and 26 apiece from Johnson and Robson. Plunkett had a good day with the ball for Parklands, picking up five wickets for just 40 runs.
Moorsholm opener Keith Harding made a match-winning 42 before being run. Thirston and Humphrey both took three wickets for Cowpen Bewley, who batting first, finishd with 126-9 despite Ward taking 4-48 and Hooker 3-19. Havert was Cowpen Bewley's leading runmaker with 42 and the next highest contribution was extras on 35. Similarly extras accounted for 30 of the Moorsholm total.
Eurocell and Marshall-Tufflex Darlington and District League
THREE games went ahead in Division A and there is a likelihood of the programme gradually getting back to normal in the next few weeks.
Middleton St. George hosted Spennymoor and won by eight wickets after restricting their opponents to 106-7 in 30 overs. Collingwood top-scored with an unbeaten 44, with six boundaries while for the home side Joe Binks, 16, had figures of 4-30 in 10 overs.
Stephen Rogers, with a six and six fours in 40 and Kevin Ashton, who hit three sixes and five boundaries carrying his bat for 53, formed a productive opening partnership and victory was in sight before Rogers was dismissed.
Aldbrough St John won by 65 runs at home to Cockerton who realised 211-6 with most of the runs coming from Shields with 92 and Gambling (41).
Replying, Cockerton were all out for 146. Black struck 56 and Letheridge 36 while for Aldbrough St John, Sillars returned the excellent figures of 5-35.
Bell, with an unbeaten 64 and Kearney (37) led Barton to 155-6 and when Barningham batted, they ended on 129-3 of which Lowes contributed an unbeaten 48.
In Division B, Witton-le-Wear had 93 runs to spare in their game with Dales who were all out for 69 as Brack claimed four wickets for only one run and Jones had an analysis of 4-23.
Batting first, Witton-le-Wear posted 162-6 with Penfold hitting an excellent 97 before being bowled by Hird, whose two wickets cost just 12 runs.
Eryholme staged their game with Ingleton and it was the visitors who won by a margin of 24 runs. Stuart Laundy hit one six and 10 boundaries in 66 and shared a third-wicket partnership of 88 with Stuart Dawson (48). Mike Batey then carried his bat for 40, striking three sixes and three fours in 40 as 46 runs were scored from the last seven overs. Ingleton ended on 175-5 in 35 overs before Eryholme totalled 151-8 of which Mark Skillbeck scored 64 with two sixes and seven fours. Ken Gamack produced the best figures of the seven bowlers used in the Ingleton attack, claiming three wickets for 11 runs in eight overs.
In Division C, Cockerton defeated Cliffe by four wickets when Mally Leafe hit a six to finish unbeaten on 81 out of a total of 187-6. Batting first, Cliffe made 185-5 in the allotted overs.
Two Haughton youngsters starred in their club's Division D match with
Aldbrough St John. Michael Bean, 15, took four wickets for 26 runs and 16-year-old Warren Spark captured three wickets for 27 runs.
Cec Leece Club Knock-out Cup, Second round: Barton defeated Trimdon CCA, Aldbrough St. John defeated Heighington, Middleton St. George defeated Colburn, Dales conceded to Ingleton, Haughton defeated Lands, Catterick Village conceded to Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill, East Cowton conceded to Spennymoor, Cockerton defeated Eryholme.
Third round (to be played July 18): Cockerton v Haughton, Spennymoor v Middleton St. George, Barton v Ingleton, Aldbrough St. John v Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill.
