A Last Night of the Proms concert at Raby castle will be accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display.
The open-air concert, on Sunday, August 26, will feature the Performing Arts Symphony with the castle near Staindrop as a stunning backdrop.
The fireworks magic will be provided by Pain's fireworks. With over 2,000 different types of fireworks to choose from, Pain's is planning a display to perfectly complement the surroundings.
It was John Pain of London, maker and seller of gunpowder, who laid the foundations for the company. In the 17th century, it was even rumoured that he was the person to supply the legendary Guy Fawkes with the gunpowder barrels he planned to use to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.
In August the fireworks will accompany the Proms finale featuring classic favourites such as Wood's Sea Songs, Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.
The concert is sponsored by the Darlington & Stockton Times and the Peugeot Motor Company plc.
The gates at Raby open at 5.30 allowing the audience time to set up their picnics before the orchestra takes to the stage at 7.30.
Tickets in advance cost adults £17.50 and children aged 5-16 years £12. On the day prices for adults are £20, children £14.
