A MAN described as a "walking miracle" will arrive on Teesside to raise money for a charity.
David Patterson, 45, from Bedford, will collect for the Arthritis Research Campaign (Arc) outside Sainsbury's, in Wilson Street, Middlesbrough, on Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 22.
Despite having suffered from crippling arthritis since childhood, he has raised more than £520,000 for the charity over the past 21 years.
In 1986, pioneering surgery restored his mobility, and since then, he has spent more than 152,000 hours as a volunteer, covering more than half a million miles and collecting outside stores in 500 towns in the UK.
Arc regional fundraiser, Christine Baker, said: "David is a real wonder at raising money for us, and we're always on the look out for new volunteers to help out with a variety of fundraising activities.
"Anyone who has a few hours to spare and would like to get involved in the charity can call me on (01670) 821146."
