PEOPLE in Shildon displayed a very British streak to enjoy the town's carnival despite atrocious weather.
The carnival was resurrected last year by the town's chamber of trade, and proved popular.
This year, hundreds of people lined the streets to watch the colourful procession of 30 floats created by local businesses and residents on Saturday.
The parade set off from the Dabble Duck industrial estate at 11.45am, led by carnival queen Shiralee McGuire, from Sunnydale School, Shildon, and ended at the recreation field.
The Ridgeside Falconry Display, Teesdale Pipes and Drums and members of the 4th Parachute Regiment provided the entertainment.
