SPECIAL thank you cards were presented to hard-working charity volunteers by their mayor.
The mayor of Durham, Councillor John Cowper, presented the cards to volunteers at the Cancer Research Campaign shop, in Silver Street, Durham City.
Coun Cowper said the cards were a chance to thank a few of the volunteers for the efforts in National Volunteer Week.
One of the recipients was Dorothy Ridsdale, 63, who lives in Durham City.
She said: "I decided to volunteer for the Cancer Research Campaign because my close family has been affected by cancer.
"It really hits you and you feel you need to do something to help."
Anyone who would like help at the shop is asked to call 0191-384 8260 for details.
