WORK has started on an £800,000 bungalow development that will create housing for elderly people in the centre of Shildon.
The Three Rivers Housing Group development, next to Shildon Civic Hall, near Main Street, will provide 13 two-bedroom bungalows, one of which will be designed for wheelchair access for disabled residents.
Supported by Sedgefield Borough Council and Shildon Town Council, the site was chosen so elderly residents are within reach of medical facilities, shops and a library.
