A leading policemen will return "home" to the North-East later this month to collect an academic honour.
Former County Durham officer David Blakey, one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary, will be given an honorary diploma in Durham.
Mr Blakey will receive his award at the National Training Centre for Support to Crime Investigation, at Durham.
Mr Blakey, 57, joined Durham Constabulary as a cadet in 1960. He served in Houghton-le-Spring before moving to Northumbria and then further afield
