TWO men avoided a prison sentence yesterday after admitting their parts in a pub brawl.
Peter Walker, 21, of Toddington Drive, and Craig Fenny, 20, of Weaverham Road, both Norton, Teesside, admitted assaulting Matthew Stewart at the Emporium, Stockton, at Teesside Crown Court.
Shaun Dodds, prosecuting, said the pair had been out drinking with friends last October when they saw Mr Stewart and his girlfriend, Amy Fox.
Miss Fox became involved in a scuffle with a woman who was with the defendants, and the men became involved.
Mr Stewart was punched by Walker and, after door staff made everyone leave, he attacked him outside, kicking him on the legs. Fenny also hit Mr Stewart.
Judge Les Spittle said: "I accept that this incident was entirely out of character."
Walker was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and 12 months' probation. Fenny was given a 60-hour community punishment order.
Each was ordered to pay £100 prosecution costs.
