AN animal welfare charity is appealing for new members.
The RSPCA hopes to renew interest in its work before the axe falls on a North-east branch.
The North Teesside and District division has 85 members, but only about four take an active part in the group's work.
If volunteers do not come forward, the branch will be forced to close.
The group needs seven new members for its committee.
It also needs to recruit home checkers, fundraisers and pet foster carers.
Meetings are monthly and anyone interested is invited to attend the group's annual meeting on Wednesday, June 27.
It is being held at The Mile House, in Durham Lane, Stockton, at 7.30pm.
