YOUNGSTERS will soon have a miniature street to play on, complete with pint-sized cars.
Sunnybrow Primary School, near Willington, is raising money to develop a play area for its pre-school children and reception classes. The Trikes for Tots appeal has been set up to raise several hundreds pounds to cover the proposed play area with safety flooring and provide pedal cars and tricycles.
Teacher Caroline Tuddenham said: "Outdoor play areas are something Ofsted are looking for when they inspect provision for foundation age groups.
"We have already got one pedal car from Argos. The children wrote to them asking for a raffle prize and the company was so impressed by the standard of work they waived the normal rules and donated the toy.
"So far, we have raised £145 in three weeks."
