MANAGERS at a Catterick firm have said a big thank-you to the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service after a crew saved their bacon.
Last month, warehouse chief Graham Hill found a blaze had started behind the Northern Select Foods premises, on the village high street.
But luckily, a fire crew was in the area on safety duties.
The appliance from Richmond was joined by the retained crew from Colburn in the battle to save stocks of bacon and ham from going up in smoke.
Now, the company has decided to show its appreciation by donating £100 to the Fire Brigade Benevolent Fund.
Northern Select Food boss Michael Harrison said: "Not only do the fire crews do a magnificent job reacting to calls and fighting fires, they also give advice on fire safety issues which can help to prevent fire and the damage it causes.
"I am just so grateful to them for saving this business."
