SUPERMARKET staff swapped check-outs for cornettos to promote their forthcoming charity night yesterday.
Management and staff at Safeway, in Ingleby Barwick, near Middlesborough, are holding an Italian evening, featuring the Opera Nova singers, next Wednesday.
The event, which aims to raise money for the Butterwick Children's Hospice, will involve the transformation of the in-store coffee shop to an authentic Italian bistro.
A three-course Italian meal will be served in the re-named Mama Rosa's, and diners will be serenaded with live opera as they eat.
The ticket price of £10 includes a glass of wine, while soft drinks, wines and Italian beers will be on sale.
Tickets are available from the store or by calling Sally Lyons on (01642) 624231.
