A distraught young woman told a court yesterday how she was groped by a stranger at a bus station in daylight.
The woman, who cannot be named, said she was grabbed by Roman Adamajtys, 41, as she waited at a bus stop at the station in Jarrow, on May 22 last year.
She told Newcastle Crown Court how he asked her what time his bus was due before groping her and then tried to grab her as she hurried on to her bus.
The court heard how she was helped by a stranger who escorted her on to the bus after telling Adamajtys she was his daughter and he was to leave her alone.
The woman broke down as she told the court how he had touched her and then left the bus stop, and how she started crying when he came back.
She said: I went to stand up and as I stood up that's when he grabbed me back. A man from the next bus stop had been watching, but when he saw that he came down.
"He told him I was his daughter and he better get his hands off me, but he started to grab me off the bus."
Adamajtys of Humbledon View, Sunderland, denies one charge of indecent assault. The trial continues.
