EX-BREWERY workers will raise a glass and reminisce over their years of service for the former Vaux company.
Nearly two years after the closure of the city centre plant with the loss of up to 600 jobs, ending more than 160 years of brewing in Sunderland, former Vaux staff are staging a get-together later this month.
Organiser Alison Hedley, who gave 17 years service as a lab technician at Vaux, hopes it will become an annual event to briefly recreate and celebrate the old family spirit among the workforce.
The reunion will be held at the Chesters pub, a former Vaux house, in Chester Road, Sunderland, on Saturday, June 30, at 7.30pm.
