South West Durham Association - Albert Hill fell four points behind the leaders, Hopetown when they went down by two points at Bishop Auckland Cricket Club.

Paul Merner put in a 31 break for the cricketers with Paul Harland making a 33 break for Albert Hill. Hopetown capitalised on this defeat by wining by two points at Harrowgate Hill.

Carl Johnson made a 49 break for Darlington Snooker Club A in their two points home win over Barnard Castle Folly's. This moves the Snooker Club level with Darlington Cricket Club in third place, although the cricketers have a match in hand.

In the Second Division, Barnard Castle Glaxo stretched their lead at the top to three points after they whitewashed their hosts at Bishop Auckland Gents B. Shildon Elm Road are in second spot with Northgate a further point adrift.

Summer League

Old Shildon lifted themselves up to second place after they whitewashed the visiting Spennymoor A. The home winners were Steven Bennett, Michael Pratt, Frank Nicholson Charlie Blake with a 33 break and Billy Goggins. Paul Biddle put in a 32 break for the Moors but went down on the black against Michael Pratt.

Wheatley Hill A stayed four points clear at the top after they whitewashed their hosts at Shotton Palms but there were three black ball fights before they got there. The Hill's winners were Ronnie Peacock, Dennis Clish, Dave Walker, Alan Hall and Jack Wright.

Third placed Fishburn A never managed to take the lead at Stanley Central until John Griffin put in a 30 break in the decider to beat Walter Cornell. The home side went ahead through Michael Vicary with Tommy Carter levelling. Jim Dufton, with a 34 break, restored the Central's lead only to see Brian Quest set up the decider.

Wheatley Hill B lifted themselves from the foot of the First Division with their second consecutive win of the season as they came through by the odd point at home to Witton Gilbert. The visitors took the first and last frame with wins from Malcolm Peart and John Rooney senior, while the Hill had wins from Jock Frost, Tony Ellison and Ken Johnson.

Bill Barrigan put Newton Aycliffe ahead at Willington but then Colin Lomax and Gordon Parking put the home side in the driving seat. Stuart Neil however equalised and then Michael Hewitt gave the visitors victory by beating Jeremy Martin.

Sherburn Village maintained their lead at the top of the Second Division despite going 2-0 down at home to Newhouse B when David Jackson and Alan McCluskey won. However Alan Greener and Scott Mallaburn levelled the match with Alan Bower taking Sherburn to victory by beating John O'Driscoll in the decider.

Newhouse A moved three points behind Sherburn with a match in hand after they came through in the decider at home to Brandon, who slipped into third place, one point behind their hosts. Wayne Watson put Brandon ahead but then John Maddox and Jimmy Hassen pushed Newhouse in front. Kevin Sample levelled the match but the home side went to victory when Steve Mountain beat Graeme Jackson in the decider.

Ferryhill are still a force to be reckoned with in the Second Division as they moved a point behind Brandon with a match in hand following their odd point win at Durham City. Glyn Toas, Mark Wilson and Ian Roddam scored for the visitors with Barry Stoddart and Gary Ward taking points for the City.

Spennymoor B moved a commanding four points clear in the Third Division after taking the first three frames at home to Leeholme A with wins from Karl McCormack, Micky Anderson and Wayne Parry. The visitors fought back with wins from Tony Clish and Barry Shaw.

Crowtrees, second in the Third Division, only went ahead of the visiting Sacriston when Sean Johnston beat Alan Thompson in the decider. Willy Nixon put Sacriston ahead with Dave Taylor equalising. Gary Barton restored the visitors lead only to see Keith McLauchlan set up the decider.

Hunwick moved up to third spot in the Third Division after they only dropped one point at Tow Law. Tom Ward, Arnold Fleming, Trevor Lomax and Barry Fleming took the first four points for the visitors before Arthur Henderson saved the whitewash by taking the final frame for the home side. This leaves Hunwick three points adrift of Crowtrees with a match in hand.

No result cards were received from the Meadowfield v Crook Belle Vue game or the Leeholme B v West Auckland game.
