Stillington's Pakistan overseas player Mohammed Hafeez and Easingwold's second XI captain Adrian Leckenby are the first winners of the new Hunters Estate Agent Month Awards and will receive their awards at the first of four presentation evenings on Tuesday at York Brewery in Toft Green, York 8pm.
Batting winner Hafeez rattled up 157 against Dringhouses as he completely dominated a second wicket partnership of 140 with Paul Mosey who made a mere 19. Dunnington's Simon Kellett came within an ace of becoming the first player to win two awards when he made an unbeaten 151 versus Sheriff Hutton Bridge. It was in fact a case of self denial as Kellett ended his own innings prematurely by declaring. Hornsea's Paul Clappison made the third highest score of 140no on bank Holiday Saturday and then scored another unbeaten ton on the Monday as he shared in two unbroken double century stands with Mike Johnston.
Adrian Leckenby won the Bowling Award when he recorded the only nine wicket haul of the month in the division four game against North Riding rivals Thirsk. He is the first Easingwold player to win a monthly award. Three eight wicket hauls were recorded with Tadcaster Magnet bowler Paul Downey's eight for 26 against Clifton Alliance being the best of the three. Goole's Dave England had eight for 44 against Castleford while Paul Mason eight for 48 against Whitkirk was the best performance in the premier division.
