A DAY of top class showing took place at the British Show Pony Society Area 1A show at Stainsby Grange, Thornaby under the organisation of Joanna Pybus and her hard-working team.
Jerome Harforth from Great Ayton produced some superbly turned out ponies, with Jessica Draper winning the show pony tricolour on the eight-year-old Millie Rose.
Jessica also had a good win with Stanley Grange Carmella in the 12-hands show hunter pony, while Anna Morton took the 13-hands show pony with Fairholme Rosettas Rhapsody, adding to her win at the Ponies UK winter championships and the NCPA Easter Festival.
She also won the novice show pony with Pam De Pree's four-year-old Charn Kingfisher, by the well known sire Lechlade Quince, ahead of Goldsborough Princess Royale, bred by Maurice Newton and ridden by Kaydie Urwin.
Claire and Peter Emmerson from Kirby-in-Cleveland produced the reserve show pony champion Ainthorpe Heirs and Graces, bred by Mr D Champion and ridden by Elizabeth Papiez.
The latter also won the show hunter pony championship on her British Elite champion Radway Midnight Magic, ahead of Sophie Dowdeswell on Chardonnay.
The 14-hands section went to Joanne Heaton on the six-year-old Odins Dance of Destiny, by Strinesdale North Star, and also had a second in the 12.2-hands show pony with Bylands Dawn Chorus.
Jason Crookes had a good win and second place with Smalland Figaro, while Natalie Atkinson was successful with Marchemanor Red Star.
The riding horse championship went to Edward Young, formerly from Darlington, who returned to the North East to ride the former Wembley small hunter champion Bob Brown. The reserve went to David Dixon from Bedale on Anne and George Handley's homebred Early Edition.
Paul Langrick from Easingwold scored a double by taking the riding horse with Steve Hull's seven-year-old Dancematter and the cob with Rebecca O'Neill's Mister Corbett.
The hack was won by Sarah Emmerson, from Kirby-in-Cleveland, on her former intermediate hunter Tarka III, while Sarah Deary rode Gillian Clifford's six-year-old homebred May Kitten to take the intermediate show riding type ahead of Marchemanor Red Star and Laura Hemsworth on Downtown Disney.
The latter, ridden by Tanya Pething, was second in the intermediate worker behind Samantha Cloy, while Jack Thompson clinched a double with Georgian Dictator in the open and nursery stakes.
The working hunter pony tricolour went to Lauren Walker and Gems Ballykissangel, while the horse section went to Louise Hall on Phantasy.
The cradle stakes was won by Nicnak Padiwack, ridden by Sam Straker, niece of international event rider Karen Dixon
