THE Eastbourne Eagles American flag football team are set to soar even higher thanks to a cash award.
The Darlington team have received £4,960 from Awards for All, bringing the total amount received from the grants scheme to £60,000.
The team's award follows their recent success in the American Flag Football British Championships, when they beat Scottish champions Burnfoot Dragons.
They are now preparing for the European Championships, in Amsterdam, at the end of the month.
If successful, the team will move on to the World Championships where they will battle against ten other nations.
Team trainer Jon Tait said: "It is a wonderful opportunity to develop the club and give more young people the chance to take part in the sport."
Supported by Sport England and the Lottery Charity Board, Awards for All funds projects which involve people from the local community taking part and enjoying sport.
Other groups who have benefited in Darlington include Darlington Table Tennis Club, Darlington Playbus and the Darlington Friday Night Club.
