Claire Stewart of Crook Coach and Horses A proved to be the star of the second qualifying evening of this year's competition when she hit two 140s and five 100s to helped her team go forward to Finals Night. The qualifying competition was played on two boards with one team from each going to Tuesday's Finals Night, which has an 8pm start in Crook Spitfire Club.
On board one, Crook Spitfire C whitewashed Crook Jelly's Bar and then met Crook Coach and Horse B to go forward to next week. This proved to be the game of the night as it went to a decider where Margaret Stewart of the Coach and Lynn Liffey of the Spitfire edged their way down to both needing double one. Lynn made the vital shot to put her team forward.
The other board was dominated by the Coach and Hoses A team who whitewashed Crook Spitfire B in their first match and then dished out similar treatment to Crook Travellers Rest in the second game. They now join Crook Spitfire C, Crook Bar 56 and Crook Spitfire A in the final play-off.
Leading individual scorers: Irene Clark 100, Evelyn Vittie 116, Angela Rutkin 120, Barbara Smith 100, Eileen Graham two 100s, Gail Abbott 100 and 110, Marian Hesp 100, Margaret Storey 121 and 122.
