A BOOK of memories about life in a Redcar village has gone on sale to raise money for the local church.
Dorothy Shaw, who has lived in Marske most of her life, has brought together her thoughts on the village in a book called Marske Remembered.
The book started as a series of articles for the St Mark's Parish Church magazine, and it was then suggested that Mrs Shaw, who is in her 70s, should combine the articles in a book.
The volume, released last Saturday, is already selling well in Marske, and has been accepted by the Redcar and Cleveland library service to appear in its history section.
Copies of the book will appear in all libraries in the area.
Graeme Cox, editor of the St Mark's Parish magazine, said: "Dorothy, who is now over 70, has given all profits from the book to the church.
"She is a locally renowned story teller and spends a lot of time with the children of Errington primary school in Marske library, telling them stories for which, as a retired English teacher, she is eminently suited."
Mrs Shaw will be at Marske library on Tuesday, between 11am and noon, to sign copies of the book, published by Peter Sotheran. All money raised will be donated to the church.
