RESIDENTS in Hartlepool are taking advantage of a computer learning centre which was opened as a partnership between the town's college of further education and Tektra last month.
The centre, Access IT, which is opposite the Citizens Advice Bureau in Park Road, has been funded by the national training provider, Tektra, which has invested the capital necessary for the refurbishment of the premises and the equipment.
One of the students already benefiting from this resource is 71-year-old James Stainthorp, who decided he needed a challenge and booked a beginners course in computer skills.
Mr Stainthorp is hoping that once he has gained enough experience he will be able to use his skills to access the Internet and continue his interest in researching his family tree.
The learning resource is accessible from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 5pm, Friday and Saturday. Courses are free except for an assessment fee.
