CHILDREN have been working hard preparing their entries for this year's school competition - the traditional run up to the Peterlee show.
The competition, open to all schools in the town, carries the theme of communication and includes colouring, poetry writing and poster design.
Organised by the town council, the contest has been supported by Orange.
Pupils at Shotton Hall Junior School were visited by Mayor, Councillor Maureen Taylor-Gooby, and Orange customer services manager David Garrigan.
Coun Taylor-Gooby said: "The work of the youngsters is excellent. The Peterlee Show prides itself on involving the whole community and this is certaintly an excellent start to preparations for this year's event, which promises to be bigger and better than before.
Mr Garrigan said: "Orange is a major employer here in Peterlee, and this is our opportunity to give something back to the community and also to our staff by supporting their involvement in the show."
The Peterlee Show will be held on September 1 and 2, and will feature news events and attractions, as well as the old favourites.
A parade of floats will open the event, with participants from across the area.
Among the attractions will be music, talent shows, schools competitions, arts and crafts and horticulture. A Battle of the Bands competition will be held with the final taking place at the show itself
