WALKERS are being invited to stroll through the centre of Durham to raise money for a charity.
The Seven Bridges of Durham Walk is being held by the Durham Appeals Committee of the Children's Society on Sunday, July 1, starting at 2pm.
Walkers who cannot make that event can do the two-mile walk at any other time during July.
A spokesman for the committee said: "Its route lies through a beautiful part of the city and will cross all seven bridges.
"There is also an alternative route which avoids steps and is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. All who complete the walk will receive a certificate and a badge."
The route begins and ends in the Market Place. The first walkers will be waved off by mayor George Cowper.
To register for the walk and get an information pack, walkers should ring 0191-378 2779, 0191-386 5741 or (01325) 72216.
