A BLIND pensioner was injured by a mugger who stole her bag.
The 78-year-old was attacked as she walked down an alley between 55 and 57 Catcote Road, near Hartlepool town centre, just before 11am on Saturday.
The thief tapped her on the shoulder and, as she turned around, he pushed her into a wall and snatched her handbag.
The thief made off towards Brierton Lane with the bag, which contained cash, house keys and personal papers.
The woman was taken to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, where she received treatment for a cut and swollen ankle.
The thief is described as between 20 and 30 years old, 5ft 2in and stockily built.
He wore a dark woollen hat and a green jacket or anorak.
