SCHOOLS and community groups are being invited to help clear up the area where they work and play.
The Tidy Britain Group's Just Bin It campaign encourages schools and community groups to help rid the streets of litter.
It is supported by Sunderland City Council and businesses on Wearside.
Groups which take part will have the chance to win prizes donated by local companies.
The best clean-up team will receive £125 each and one group of children will win a party. There are also prizes from Nike for people who sign up to help the campaign.
Northumbria Police have also announced plans for stricter enforcement of litter laws to support the campaign.
Anyone caught dropping litter could be punished with a fine of £50. For details about Just Bin It or to register, call Richie Bell on 0191-553 4512
