DETECTIVES are hoping a holidaymaker can help them establish the last moments of a man found dead at a North-East beauty spot.
Police are treating the death of Michael Burrup, 36, from Stanhope, County Durham, as suspicious.
He was found in a pool of water near the Heather View Caravan Park, Stanhope, early on Saturday, June 9, following an altercation with two visitors from Sunderland, moments earlier.
Mr Burrup and one of the Sunderland men crashed through a fence and down an embankment.
The second man survived the fall and has now been released from the University Hospital, Durham, where he was being treated for a broken arm and shoulder blade.
Police expect to question the 26-year-old - who has not yet been named - within the next few days.
A post-mortem examination failed to establish the exact cause of Mr Burrup's death, and police are not certain whether head injuries found on him led to his death.
A spokesman said the incident room at Crook police station has now been closed, but officers are still working on the investigation.
Mr Burrup had been walking home from the Pack Horse Pub.
