AN East Durham town is celebrating the 20th anniversary of town twinning.
Since 1989 Peterlee has been linked to Nordenham in North Germany and this year, it is Peterlee's turn to host a group of German visitors.
Fifty people will visit the town from July 25 to August 2, including a German folk dancing group, largely made up of youngsters aged between 15 and 18.
A group of Nordenham town councillors will be in the town from July 27 to 30 as part of the anniversary celebrations.
The celebration day will take place next Saturday, at Castle Dene Shopping Centre with dancers, face painters, choirs and other entertainers.
There will be a free event at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
