A FRENCH medal presented to a British soldier nearly 90 years ago will be among the exhibits at a new attraction devoted to the story of the First World War.
The rare Croix de Guerre with oak-leaves will go on display at a new feature in the award-winning Eden Camp wartime theme museum, near Malton, North Yorkshire.
The museum is housed in an old Second World War prisoner-of-war camp, with the various huts each devoted to a different aspect of the last war.
"A lot of people have asked us if we were ever going to do anything about the First World War, and that is what we are doing now," said museum director Steve Jaques.
"We hope to open the Great War hut in about six weeks time, and the Croix de Guerre will feature in the medals display."
Mr Jacques added: "This is a new venture for us and although we already have a lot of World War One memorabilia here, we are always on the lookout for more."
