MORE than 150 athletes are expected to take part in a sports day for adults with learning disabilities, next week.
The event is taking place at the Riverside sports complex, at Chester-le-Street, on Monday, from 10.30am.
Clients from most of County Durham's day care centres are expected to attend.
They will complete in a wide range of events, including the javelin, 100m and 200m sprints, relay and tug of war.
Seventeen of the athletes who will be competing have also been chosen to represent the North-East in the Special Olympic national games, which will be held in Cardiff, in August.
John Burnip, from County Durham Care, said: "This is a terrific event which all the clients enjoy."
Spectators are welcome
