FORMER Redcar MP Mo Mowlam intends to remain in the area despite stepping down from her seat.
The popular MP, who represented Redcar for 14 years up to the general election, said she will continue to divide her time between Teesside and London.
She paid tribute to the constituents who took her to their hearts.
"The people in the constituency of Redcar gave me incredible support during my happy years as their MP," she said. "I will miss them and the people I worked with, the trade unions, the local council, the public and voluntary sectors and business.
"I will not be moving from Redcar, but will live in Redcar and London, as I do now. I will still be around, drinking in the pubs, going to Redcar races and watching with interest the work of the council and Government agencies."
Vera Baird has taken over as the new Labour MP
