Spennymoor League - Spennymoor Half Moon made their best win since joining the league when they dropped one point on their visit to Spennymor Salvins Arms, who managed to take one of the doubles points.
The Moon had singles wins from Paul Hartley, Kevin Malloy, Stephen Raisbeck, Barry Cole and Mark Etherington. Their success was completed when Kevin Malloy beat Paul Coombs in the captain's game.

Tow Law League
Tow Law Station moved thee points clear at the top of the table after they only dropped one point to the visiting Billy Row Royal George, who had Peter Shepherd as their only winner. Second placed, Tow Law New Market B were taken to the decider before they came through to win by the odd point at Esh Winning Football Club. The footballers had singles wins from John Robinson and Colin Neil, while the visitors went ahead with wins from Colin Armstrong, Raymond Weir, David Spencer and Gary Turnbull. However the home side took the first two doubles to square the match but the New Market B went to victory when Jim Day and Ray Weir beat John Quigley and Colin Neil in the decider.
The ladies team from Tow Law Black Horse B took the visiting Hamilton Row Black Horse to the decider but just failed to record their first win of the season when Steve Wilkie and Martin Kennedy beat Laura Duffy and Elaine Jefferson. The ladies had singles wins from Angela Armstrong and Heather Laing, while the visitors had wins from Chris Ellis, Barry Sims, Steve Wilkie and Mick Thompson. However Chris Suddes with Angela Armstrong took the first doubles with Sylvia Goodall with Heather Laing taking the second to set up a decider.

Bishop Auckland League
Witton Park Rose and Crown made only their second win of the season when they came out on top of the visiting Spennymoor Weardale by three points. The home side had two singles points from Paul McConnell and one each from Dean Hodgson, Stuart Barker, Alan Routledge and Paul Frame. The Weardale replied with one point each for Martin Short, Steve Sinclair, Stephen Newall and Shane Cason.
Dean Hodgson and Paul Frame then took the doubles for the Rose and Crown before Paul McConnell shared the captain's points with Shane Cason.
In a vital match Spennymoor Ashtree went down by the odd point to the visiting Bishop Auckland King's Head. The Ashtree had two singles points from Chris Bowran and Harry Baillie, with Stephen Jones adding one. The Kings had two points from Andrew Tuesday and Kevin Watson and one from Stephen Bainbridge.
The King's Head took the doubles when Chris Priestley and David Jacomb won to put them a point ahead. Paul Biddle then took the first captain's game to level the match but then lost the decider to Kevin Watson.

Ferryhill and District League
A good response to the request for teams to join the new league in last week's Local Heroes means that it seems certain there will be a large league formed at the inaugural annual meeting, which will be held at 8pm in the Greyhound, Ferryhill on Monday, July 2. However, more teams will be accepted, so if any team is interested they should contact Steve Wray on 01470 655591 for any advance information or attend the meeting.
Crook League
Crook Olde Horse Shoe B looked be coasting to a big victory at Crook Coach and Horses A when they led 5-0 but the home side recovered so well that the Shoe needed to take the final frame to force a draw. James Ivil, Rob Grayson, Dave Leighton, Louie Holmes and Carl Maddison pushed the Shoe five ahead but then only managed one more from Peter Clement while the Coach and Horses were going ahead with singles wins from Ray Holliday, Eric Reynolds, Phil Tobin, Adam Martin and Mark Penny to add to their two doubles points. The Shoe snatched the draw when James Ivil beat Ray Holliday in the final frame.
At the top of the First Division, Crook Olde Horse Shoe A extended their lead to eight points over Crook Travellers Rest B. The Olde Horse Shoe B are in third place, but are 22 points behind the Travellers. In the Second Division Crook Spitfire Club and Crook Surtees share the top spot, seven points ahead of Crook Golden Fleece. Crook Queen's Head A finished with a fine when they failed to send in their card for the home match against Crook Royal Sun.

Willington League
Hunwick Quarry Burn pulled off an odd point win on their visit to Sunnybrow Brown Trout. The home side had singles wins from Dave Blackburn and Dave Yates, while Leanne Cunningham, Steve Fletcher, Alan McClurg and Keith Dufton replied. The Burn then took one of the three doubles to clinch their victory. Willington Football Club were able to celebrate their first maximum victory since joining the League after they whitewashed the visiting Willington Brewer's Droop B with singles wins from Tony Atkinson, Michael Pickles, Christopher Heslop, Barry Lauder, Steven Robson and Adrian Sheppard. Oakenshaw Club's seven point win at Willington Brewer's Droop A made them firm favourites to land the title again as they are now nine points ahead of Howden Australian B with just three matches left. The Aussie B are just one point ahead of Hunwick Club.
