AN outdoor activity centre for people with physical and learning disabilities has extended its respite care facilities.
The Calvert Trust, at Kielder Water, in Northumberland, can now increase the number of activity holidays and breaks that it offers.
The new respite care wing is the second phase of a redevelopment project to improve facilities at the trust.
Building work ground to a halt last year when the contractor ceased trading, but the project is back on track, with the completion of the £240,000 second phase.
Peter Cockerill, centre director, said: "The knock-on effect of the delay has meant problems for our guests, their carers and indeed, the facility as a whole.
"The Calvert Trust is one of the few places in the North-East that offers such facilities for people with disabilities, and we have had to disappoint a number of families both last and this year."
The trust is raising funds for the third phase of the project, which will refurbish existing accommodation.
