SUNDERLAND city centre manager Peter Gouldsbro pitched in to help keep a park spick and span.
Mr Gouldsbro, in his first week in the job, took part in a litter pick in Festival Park along with Phil Steele, manager of The Bridges shopping centre, and staff from Debenhams, Wilkinsons and McDonalds.
The event was held in support of the Tidy Britain Group's Just Bin It campaign to encourage people to put their rubbish in bins.
Mr Gouldsbro said: "We are very happy to support this worthwhile campaign.
"City Contracting Services already do sterling work in keeping city centre areas clean and free from litter.
"We hope that local clean-up initiatives such as this will encourage others to take a more proactive, responsible approach."
Marian Harrison of the Tidy Britain Group, said it was encouraging to see shop bosses and staff back the campaign.
