HUNDREDS of youngsters took part in an action-packed day of sport and competition on Saturday.
Representing the districts of Hartlepool, Stockton, Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough, the Partnership Youth Games organised by Teesside Sport took place at Eston Sports Academy and Tennis World.
Youngsters aged eight to 16, competed for honours in netball, tennis, rugby, basketball, swimming and cricket.
The 2001 Partnership Games are the third games to be organised by Teesside Sport with funding from the local districts, the Teesside School Sports Association and Sport England Lottery Fund.
They are part of a five-year Active Sports programme, which aims to support all young people getting involved in, and enjoying sport.
Trevor Brooking, chairman of Sport England said: "The Partnership Games have provided a unique opportunity for young people to compete at a very high standard, and of course, they had a great time."
