A NEW Stockton primary school has been opened yesterday by former England Rugby Union international player Rob Andrew.
Oak Tree Primary School was created by joining Newtown Infant and Junior schools and the new building has been refurbished and extra classrooms built.
Mr Andrew cut the ribbon to officially open the £1.25m primary school, which has two libraries and IT and food technology equipment.
One of the libraries has been named after Margaret Shepherd, a much-loved former teacher from the school.
The new school has already had improving results throughout all age groups, and there are waiting lists of children wanting to join the nursery.
