POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an accident that left a woman with serious back injuries.
She was driving a car which left the road and hit a wooden fence, on Saturday morning.
The woman, from Durham, was taken to the city's University Hospital of North Durham.
Her female passenger was also taken to the hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.
The accident happened at 7.27am on Saturday in Brandon Lane, Langley Moor, as the Vauxhall Astra was heading east towards Meadowfield.
Acting Inspector John Wesencraft said: "For some unknown reason it failed to negotiate a minor right hand bend and left the road and hit a fence."
Witnesses should call the accident investigation unit at force headquarters on 0191 386 4929.
