AN operatic society is limbering up for a one night performance that, hopefully, will benefit from some decent summer weather.
Music for a Summer Evening, by the Lanchester and District Choral and Operatic Society, is being held in the village's Endowed Parochial Primary School on Friday, July 13.
Two light-hearted works will be the highlight of the show. These are Hiawatha's wedding feast, by Coleridge Taylor, and Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo, by Flanders and Horovitz.
Soloists Sharon Murray and Richard Woods will also be taking to the stage.
Tickets are priced £3, including liquid refreshments, and are available from society members, on the door, or by calling 0191-410 6082.
In the autumn, the society starts rehearsals for their next production, Ruddigore by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Anyone interested in joining the group should ring the above number.
