VICTORY celebrations were cut short when brass band members found their headquarters vandalised for the tenth time in 12 months.
Instead of toasting a competition triumph, Ripon City Brass Band members found themselves replacing six windows shattered by stone-throwing vandals.
It was the second time in two days that the band room in High Saint Agnesgate, Ripon, had been targeted. Members, led by glazier and cornet player Norman Lonsdale, repaired the damage.
"It is very frustrating and creates a lot of work, not just replacing the windows, but clearing up all the glass inside," said band chairman Irwin Blenkiron.
The 26-strong band had returned from the Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Championships, having won top prize for marching and deportment.
Mr Blenkiron said: "I would hope that they could find something better to do than cause damage and frustration for our members.
"If they want to do something constructive they could come and join our youth band."
Trouble for the band started during the school holidays last summer.
North Yorkshire Police are investigating the latest vandalism.
