FILTRATION specialist PSI Global has taken over Redhouse Engineering.

Darkfern Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bowburn business, has moved in for the Redhouse operations in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and Taunton, Devon, which were in the hands of official receivers Kroll Buchler Phillips and the Bank of Scotland.

Redhouse Engineering, with a turnover of £2m a year, is seen as a natural business partner for PSI, as its products complement those of its new parent.

Sue Hunter, managing director of PSI Global, said: "PSI's take-over affords a new opportunity for customers and suppliers alike of Redhouse Engineering.

"As an internationally renowned filtration and separation specialist that exports 80 per cent of its products, PSI Global will put its vast research and development knowledge and capability into making Redhouse's products meet with the company's exacting quality standards.

"We aim to create an atmosphere in which both will develop and flourish, adding to PSI's increasing portfolio and global presence."

She added: "Its always a difficult time for all concerned when a company goes into receivership, but as far as PSI Global is concerned, it is business as usual and we look forward to meeting and building lasting relationships with our new customers."

"I feel for previous creditors and hope that a continuing business relationship will help recoup any losses incurred by the previous company."

The take-over will safeguard more than ten jobs at Redhouse's operations.

The Redhouse operations will be wholly-owned subsidiaries of PSI Global, and will be run as separate companies.

The Ellesmere Port operation will trade as Airman Engineering Services, under the previous management team of Mike Stewart and Jim Evans.

The Taunton business will trade as Redhouse Engineering Services and will continue to be managed by Paul Scargill.

In the past 25 years, PSI Global, which employs more than 80, has been at the forefront of new product development, resulting in international patents and has won industry awards for its achievements.

In 1997, its staff development programme was recognised with the award of the Investors in People standard.

The take-over of Redhouse Engineering could be the first of many acquisitions for PSI, which has plans to be a worldwide player in the filtration and separation industry.
