A VILLAGE took a step back in time last night when it staged a vintage vehicle rally for charity.
More than 70 classic vehicles from all over the region descended on Sedgefield, County Durham, for an evening fete.
They gathered around the village green for the event, which was held to raise money for the Butterwick Hospice, in Bishop Auckland.
Attractions included a 1934 Austin Box 7 saloon, which took its owner 41 years to restore, a 1929 Austin Heavy 12 Burham saloon, restored in Bishop Auckland after being found burned out, a 1935 Morris series 3 saloon and a 1933 Morgan Trike.
The Aycliffe and District Bus Preservation Society took along a vintage double-decker, which gave rides around the green.
Music was provided by the Royal British Legion's pipes and drums, and there was face-painting and fairground rides for the children.
Local shops got into the spirit of the event by staying open later than usual, and there were several craft stalls.
A similar event for the Butterwick Hospice takes place at Whitworth Hall, Spennymoor, County Durham, on Sunday, from 11am to 2.30pm.
