A DIVING club has been given a cash boost by a project breathing new life into the east Durham coastline.
Seaham Sub-aqua Club has been given a grant of £1,700 by Turning the Tide's community action fund.
The club gives divers of all ages and abilities the chance to scuba dive in the sea and inland waterways.
The money has enabled the club, based in the town's former ambulance station, to take on more learner divers and buy more equipment.
Club secretary Quenton Carr said: "The grant from Turning the Tide has made a huge difference to the club.
"We now have a fully functioning lecture room, which makes teaching trainee divers much easier, and the new bottle banks mean we can fill our tanks in only five minutes - previously it took up to five times that long."
